Thalia hall broken social scene12/12/2023 Extremely rude & entitled employees that have no clue what they’re doing cause a girl who wasn’t even 21 got let in right after we were denied and she showed her REAL ID that was vertical too. Another person in like got their actual ID taken and when asked for it back, they said if was “disclosed information”. Didn’t get let in when we gave them second form of identification and they almost kept our ID’s. You would think these bouncers work at the DMV because 4 of them had to check if they were real and didnt even scan them or ask us a single question. Were there the weekend prior for his 21st, not even a single GLANCE at our ID’s. Tried to take me and my boyfriend’s REAL ID on a THURSDAY NIGHT. In case you're wondering, we went to Time Out Market Chicago for some heat & seat while we waited. The restaurant is very close to the L station but we almost missed the entrance since there was no restaurant sign and the name was on the other side of the door. The bill came out to be ~$90 for 2 cocktails & 2 appetizers with 20% gratuity included. Nikumaki beef had a perfect balance of fatty & meaty bits although it was a bit too salty for me the carrots were soft and cooked through. Karaage portion size was small but each piece was big. Moonshine Daiquiri was ordered as a flight, which was served deconstructed in 3 glasses of the components in the cocktail. I love sweet & citrus-y cocktails so I ordered Walk Softly and it did not disappoint. I particularly liked the vining plant on their in-wall shelf and the flowers that are placed in the tubes on the wall. It's a small restaurant with cozy and mellow vibes. While we were deciding where to go to kill some time, she had offered us a reservation at 8 that had just been cancelled. We got there on a Saturday night at ~7pm without a reservation and the hostess told us that it was a 1.5h wait. I was told you can order food to be delivered here though and there are plenty of choices in the area to do so. There is a beautiful backyard outdoor garden with a fireplace, picnic tables, and a small bar which would be a great spot to enjoy in good weather.Ī big minus is that they are cash only, and do not serve food. The atmosphere is very laid-back and reminds me of an old-school neighborhood Tavern with the long wooden bar and the Art Deco lighting. There's only four of them, so get there early if you want to sit in a booth. It was very enjoyable to play Checkers with my companion. They are very unique that they have a checkerboard built into the table top. I love the vintage booths in the front of the bar. I am not a fan of the Taxidermy theme, in fact it makes me think of this place as more of a Hunters only club or Refuge. It is made out of deer antlers, and I hope that these are faux or found on the ground and not taken from deers that were killed just for this purpose. The decor is Backwoods rustic while being beautiful and sad at the same time. Went here for the taste talks Chicago closing night party with Altos tequila. I will definitely be back again to see another show, eat a meal, drink some drinks, soak up the atmosphere and have a memorable time. Very rock n' roll! Along with the great food offerings, there is a pretty extensive drink & beer menu.I believe there were 5 pages in the menu to choose from. I really dig all of the band and other random stickers that are all over almost every available surface in the joint and the rock club, especially the bathrooms. There's a balcony area with some seating as well. Then we headed back down to the street to go next door to the rock joint to watch the concert we came to see, the band Living Colour. There's a pool table, bar with more great food and a basketball shooting area. Headed to the rooftop to hang out in the open air, listening to some heavy music playing through the speakers, people watching, enjoying a few drinks and the passing El Trains. There is a small stage there where I have enjoyed a couple great shows in the past and a bass guitar clinic this time. It tasted delicious too! This was in the music joint/bar area. It was served hot, fresh and cooked exactly how I ordered it. Everyone on the staff that we interacted with was awesome, friendly and clearly cared about providing great service.
